Terms of Service
Last updated: June 30, 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By using DocProof ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Description of Service
DocProof provides cryptographic document integrity proofs. When you upload a file, we compute a SHA-256 fingerprint of its contents, record a UTC timestamp, and issue a verifiable proof record. We never store, transmit, or process the content of your original file. Files are hashed in memory and immediately discarded.
3. Payments
Proof creation requires a one-time payment processed via Stripe. All fees are non-refundable once the proof has been created and the certificate has been issued, because the cryptographic timestamp cannot be un-recorded. Prices are shown in Canadian Dollars (CAD) unless otherwise stated. We reserve the right to change pricing for future proofs with advance notice.
4. No Legal Advice
DocProof certificates are cryptographic evidence tools. They are not legal documents and do not constitute legal advice. For legal proceedings, consult a qualified attorney. The evidentiary weight of a DocProof certificate depends on applicable law in your jurisdiction. DocProof makes no guarantee that any specific court or jurisdiction will accept a certificate as evidence.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Upload content that is illegal, or that you do not own or have the rights to timestamp
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, tamper with, or circumvent the Service's integrity mechanisms
- Create proofs for fraudulent, deceptive, or misleading purposes
- Violate any applicable laws or regulations
- Abuse the API (e.g., automated creation for spam or competitive scraping)
Violations may result in proof deletion and/or being blocked from future use, without refund.
6. API Usage
API keys are subject to monthly quotas as specified in your plan. Abuse of the API will result in immediate key revocation without refund. DocProof reserves the right to define what constitutes abuse at its sole discretion.
7. Proof Retention
Proofs are stored indefinitely unless a specific expiry date is set at creation, or unless you request deletion using your GDPR data deletion right. We reserve the right to remove proofs that violate these Terms. We do not retain backups of deleted proofs.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that proofs will be accepted as evidence in any particular jurisdiction or proceeding.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, DocProof and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid for the proof in question.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Quebec, Canada. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction.
11. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms at any time. Material changes will be noted with an updated date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
